Thom Mayne (January 19, 1944) an American architect has many similar styles to Rem Koolhaas (November 17 1944) a Dutch architect. Some of it is the functionality of their buildings. Just like other  architects, these two famous architects designs and builds structure that are highly functional to their designated places. The functions of some of their buildings might not be visible enough to see but their significance are quite fascinating. You can also see their similarities through the boldness of their buildings.

The way they want to make their building’s firmness is somehow parallel. They are also similar to the sides of their structures. They prefer to use edgy styles than curve one.

On the other hand, their styles are also different from each other. Thom Mayne is focused on his bold unconventional works which is noted for their offset angular forms. His works have more details than Rem’s. He is also famous for his style like layered exterior walls. The letters on his building are quite big, number and graphics. This architect is also known for his works through emphasis of natural lights. Thom is also famous for its deconstructive style. Some of its philosophies is “an experimental approach to design”

Rem Koolhaas, an architect, architectural theories, urbanist and Professor in Practice of Architecture and Urban Design at the Graduate School of Designs at Harvard University known for his striking, often gravity-defying structures. Almost all of his works are really gravity defying buildings. The attraction lies, in part, in his ability to keep us off balance. Koolhaas’ habit of shaking up established conventions has made him one of the most influential architects of his generation. Unlike other architects of his stature, such as Frank Gehry or Zaha Hadid, who have continued to refine their singular aesthetic visions over long careers, Koolhaas works like a conceptual artist—able to draw on a seemingly endless reservoir of ideas.
